Job Description

Concord Engineering Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II for our Voorhees office to work in our Commercial/Hospitality Department.

The Commercial / Hospitality Division provides full-service MEP/FP engineering, energy consulting, design-build, construction management and commissioning services for industrial facilities and high-performance buildings for the commercial and institutional markets. We are a team comprised of engineers educated and practiced in energy conservation and project implementation with a proven track record for excellence in all aspects of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, & fire protection engineering.

As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will take an important role in designing mechanical/HVAC/plumbing/fire protection systems for various clients of the Commercial/Hospitality department.  Our projects include gaming, hospitality, senior living, higher education, and K-12 schools.  In some cases, there will be a requirement to sign and seal the drawings on projects where you are the Engineer of Record on the project.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design energy efficient HVAC systems and mechanical systems per client requirements.
  • For some projects, perform as the Engineer of Record signing and sealing drawings for projects under your direction and supervision.
  • Conduct load calculations analysis and energy modeling using programs such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR and/or Carrier HAP.
  • Review projects regularly to ensure departmental standards and requirements are consistent with client requirements and the project budget.
  • Using Revit, perform design, layout, and checking of mechanical and HVAC drawings and ensure the technical correctness of the drawings by using the applicable job, federal, state and local standards and codes.
  • Provide direction to less experienced Engineers in Training when working together with them on projects.
  • Perform site surveys, attend pre-bid meetings and provide field construction support, as required.
  • Implement training development, in conjunction with Project Engineer, other engineers, designers and draftspersons as assigned to your projects.
  • Assist the PM/Project Engineer in proposal development, client management and overall project execution.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum seven to ten years professional experience with proven progression in Mechanical/HVAC design with an emphasis on sustainable/green building.
  • Experience in executing a design project with Autodesk Autocad, Revit and implementing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred but at minimum should be working towards licensure.
  • Must be knowledgeable of local, state and national code requirements.
  • Must have experience/working knowledge of load analysis and energy modeling programs such as eQUEST, Trane Trace, ENERGY STAR and/or Carrier HAP.
  • Knowledgeable of the USGBC LEED Rating system and standards.
  • Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions.
  • Effective at working with other staff members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate complex ideas and have strong technical writing skills and technical documentation skills with the ability to prepare presentations and reports.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English
