Job Description
Junior / Mid -level engineering opportunity to develop and participate in growing Concord Engineering’s dynamic and industry leading business unit delivering system designs and solutions for power, utility and industrial clients. Candidate will be expected to develop physical layout and design of mechanical systems for power plants, central utility plants and distributed generation. Candidate will work with team of electrical, mechanical and controls engineers to provide physical mechanical design and drawings including: plant equipment arrangements and layout, plant 3D models, above ground and underground pipe routing, piping schedules and plant details.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform plant and mechanical design duties under the supervision of the Director of Design Services
- Layout plant and mechanical equipment, route piping, duct-bank and cable systems
- Assist in project coordination with other engineering disciplines
- Support construction in the office and field by reviewing submittals, shop drawings and reports, as well as inspecting installation and oversee testing and commissioning.
- Respond to customer and contractor questions.
- Participate in site surveys and inspections.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in equipment layout and physical design of mechanical systems for power plants, central utility plants, chiller plants, boiler plants and combined heat and power.
- Knowledge and experience equipment layout and physical design of piping systems, structural steel and electrical raceway
- Experience in coordinating multidiscipline projects including interfacing with mechanical and controls engineering disciplines
- Working knowledge and utilization of 3D Autocad and 3D Revit.
- Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions.
- Effective at working with other staff members in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage engineering design projects
- Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate complex ideas and have strong technical writing skills and technical documentation skills with the ability to prepare presentations and reports.
- Able to read, write, speak and understand English
Relevant Experience
- Minimum 5-10 years professional experience with proven progression in physical design of mechanical systems, particularly in power, utility, industrial or process industries.
Physical Abilities
Sedentary - Lifting up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and files. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Work Environment
Moderate - Occasionally exposed to extreme atmospheric conditions (temperature, noise fumes, dust, etc.)
