Job Description

CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Mechanical/Cx Engineer to join our Generation & Energy Management Team at our office in either Albany, NY or Parsippany, NJ.  This position is to take the leading role in commissioning mechanical and electrical projects and performing project oversight.  The engineer will develop commissioning plans, perform engineering design reviews, and track submittal logs.

CHA is a leader in sustainable district energy, power and thermal generation systems. Our approach includes critical systems that are maintainable and operable with redundant, fail-safe backups. Our expertise encompasses gas turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating engines, gas plants, biomass plants, coal-fired boiler plants, chiller plants, high-voltage substation, and more. From the early stages of master planning and permitting through comprehensive detailed design, we partner with our clients to create solutions that provide reliable, sustainable energy.

 

Working alongside CHA’s professional engineers, the Mechanical/Cx Engineer supports the design development, implementation and technical analysis of technical various systems to implement new products, or changes to an existing scheme, to suit individual client needs. The Mechanical/Cx Engineer aids in preparing technical reports, contract documents and cost estimates for various engineering tasks. The professional in this role works on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company requirements.

 

This individual identifies technical discrepancies in analytical results and makes appropriate corrections. Additionally, the Mechanical/Cx Engineer develops and maintains a familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the firm’s and client’s practices, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
  • Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP) preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of related Engineering experience required
  • Strong knowledge of engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
  • Has a strong theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering field
  • Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about the respective engineering discipline
  • Familiar with QA/QC procedures
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required
