Job Description

TRC is seeking a Field Inspector to support the delivery of energy efficiency programs to commercial and industrial customers in direct support of PSE&G energy efficiency programs in Northern New Jersey. As a Field Inspector you conduct energy analyses, site inspections, and reporting for multiple commercial and industrial energy efficiency projects and/or customers. Your background in building systems, energy efficiency, demand management, green building and sustainability allow you to provide the highest level of customer service. You work collaboratively with the Advanced Energy team and clients to provide field support and implement market-transforming programs that encourage energy efficiency.

Your technical expertise, communication skills, mental flexibility, and excellent customer care skills are vital to completing client objectives and goals. We rely on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and perform a variety of complicated tasks.

The position is based out of the TRC Lyndhurst, NJ office, but is currently full-time remote due to the pandemic. TRC cares about employee health, safety, and needs. Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule site visits with commercial & industrial customers throughout Northern New Jersey.
  • Confirm project scopes of work with customers and confirm that scopes match project applications and records.
  • Conduct inspections to document existing building conditions, operations, and schedules and to identify potential efficiency measures. Verify compliance with program requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support in addressing onsite issues.
  • Develop inspection reports that summarize on-site findings and include photographs and action items to resolve discrepancies.
  • Work with customers and contractors to resolve discrepancies identified on site.
  • Successfully complete assigned work on time and within budget.
  • Communicate effectively with building owners, operations staff, and contractors.
  • Research and develop inspection protocols for new and evolving technologies.
  • Communicate with energy efficiency program managers to inform quality assurance standards and mechanisms associated with the client programs.

Qualifications

  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Residency within the Northern portion of State of New Jersey
  • Reliable means of transportation to facilitate site visits throughout the State of New Jersey.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Associate degree (Engineering/Technical Preferred), or at least four years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of building science including mechanical, electrical, and/or weatherization technologies across a broad array of building types.
  • Strong computer and record-keeping skills: proficiency in MS Office and use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM).
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse customers and contractors effectively and respectfully.

Professional Skills

  • Previous experience conducting Energy Efficiency Inspections for commercial and/or industrial buildings.
  • Residency in the following New Jersey Counties: Bergen, Hudson, Essex, or Passaic, or immediate surrounding area.
  • Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Team-oriented, hands-on, adaptive, and client-focused.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Work Environment

Travel: Up to 75% within the State of New Jersey
