The JPI Group, in partnership with DNV Energy Services USA Inc, is seeking an Outreach Professional.  Our team supports the implementation of the utility-led Energy Efficiency Incentive programs for business customers. This position is based out of our Newark, NJ office.

Job Description

This position is responsible for outreach and distribution management activities to recruit, engage and assist targeted Distribution partners to actively participate in the Midstream (Instant Rebates) program channel.  This position is primarily focused on non-lighting Distributors (HVACR / WH) but may be called upon to manage lighting Distribution partners.  This position will promote and facilitate the participation of the Distributors and Manufacturers who provide energy efficiency equipment or services for the state of New Jersey, specifically in PSE&G territory. This is not a managerial position.

Job Responsibilities

Majority of duties and expectations, but not to be all-inclusive or to prevent other duties from being assigned.

  • Promote the energy efficiency program to Distributors and trade allies within your assigned territory.
  • Understand and implement the company’s Sales Process, including but not limited to:
    • Making outbound calls and visits to new and existing Distributors and Trade Allies to meet assigned energy saving targets.
    • Managing field time effectively with Distributor or Trade Ally visits.
    • Developing and presenting program presentations to spur project activity.
    • Responding to Distributor inquiries and concerns by phone, electronically or in person to move projects towards completion.
    • Work with Distributors and / or Manufacturers to facilitate their use of the systems and procedures required to work with the Instant Rebate Midstream program.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the program’s strategic direction regarding energy efficiency and the business activities of its Distributors. 
  • Maintain professional appearance appropriate for a representative of our organization and the utility.
  • When required, provide written summary reports directly to the Distributor / Manufacturer, and summary reports to the client/Program Manager.
  • Be able to work in a team atmosphere, and willing to collaborate on continuous improvement of operations year after year.

Professional Skills

  • B.A. or B.S. in a related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in HVACR or Water Heater sales, account management, Distribution or similar
  • Experience working with energy efficiency or energy efficient products with a utility, government, non-profit or public agency
  • Ability to handle a high volume of clients and suppliers
  • Highly-polished communication skills—written and oral
  • Ability to transition quickly between tasks
  • Solid problem-solving capabilities
  • Creativity and attention to detail
  • Team player with positive attitude and ability to work effectively with different teams
  • Proven track record of translating technical messages for diverse audiences
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, occasional overnight
  • Valid driver’s license
  • We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to travel minimum of 25% - 75% of the time
  • Site visits will require physical activity for extended periods of time, including but not limited to, standing, walking with occasional, climbing, kneeling, and related field work as requited.
  • Ability to work for an extended period of time with personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Use repetitive hand motion
  • Lift and carry heavy appliances up to 50 lbs. occasionally

Work Environment

  • Field work may require exposure to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. This may or may not include extreme temperatures.
  • Field work may expose the employee to fumes and airborne particles. 
  • Field work may contain potential hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to chemicals, and working in high places.
  • Field Work may require work in close quarter areas such as, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms.
