Job Description
ADM, seeks to hire a Field Engineer to inspect energy efficiency equipment and install energy monitoring devices in residences and commercial and industrial facilities primarily in New Jersey, and potentially in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Most of the work would be within New Jersey (PSE&G and JCP&L service territories) and the candidate must reside in New Jersey.
Ideal candidates will have strong critical thinking, writing, and analysis capability; excellent organizational skills; an ability to solve problems and make sound decisions in the field; and the capability to work both independently and in groups. Experience with energy efficiency and building systems is a plus.
Job Responsibilities
- Review site inspection and data collection plans
- Schedule on-site visits with utility customers and travel to site locations
- Effectively communicate site access and data collection needs to customers
- Conduct equipment inspections, data logger installations, and retrievals
- Promptly share notes and photograph taken on site with the project team
- Attend internal project team meetings as well as client calls to review work status
- Proactively answer contact concerns and questions
- Perform blower door and duct testing if needed (training can be provided)
- The position involves data analysis for a significant fraction of a full-time schedule: learn and apply data analysis methods and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical science.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills in the field of engineering, and
- Familiarity with instruments for measurement of volts, amps, and power on live electrical circuits.
- Knowledgeable about efficient technologies, including lighting, HVAC equipment, motors, building envelopes, compressed air, and industrial process equipment is desirable.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and under time pressure.
- Ability to travel for a significant fraction of a full-time schedule. This position involves extensive travel within northern New Jersey (mostly day trips), and some travel in PA and NY.
- Ability to communicate effectively with facility maintenance staff, industrial engineers, and clients.
- Valid driver license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to rent vehicles and travel on commercial airlines.
- Ability to carry up to 30lbs. and the ability to climb ladders.
