Job Description
Energy engineers perform ASHRAE Level III energy audits of large facilities, including hospitals, universities, municipal and commercial high-rise buildings. Prepare custom energy calculations for energy conservation measures implemented at facility based on actual conditions and measure design. Works internally with design engineers to ensure customer energy savings goals are met.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform ASHRAE Level III energy audits of large facilities, including hospitals, universities, municipal and commercial high-rise buildings
- Assemble/modify detailed energy calculations of energy conservation measures
- Coordinate energy calculations with design team
- Plans, schedules, and coordinates all phases of design work for particular projects.
- Prepares project reports and analyses to monitor progress of project effort budgets vs. actual completion.
- Initiates independent action regarding design decisions after consultation with Engineers and Project managers as needed.
- Performs 1st level of tasks associated with Engineer level including contributing in the areas of performance appraisals.
- Inter/Intra department communication.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- High aptitude for understanding HVAC system operations and ability to quantify HVAC operations in terms of energy use
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Renewable & Clean Energy Engineering, or other Energy related discipline e.g. Chemical Engineering or
- High proficiency with MS Suite of tools, especially Excel, Word, Outlook
- Familiarity with reading building drawings
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience conducting ASHRAE Level I, II, & III energy audits
- Strong report writing
- Experience conducting energy analysis with utility data
- Commissioning Background
- Experience in large commercial office/hospital spaces
Professional Skills
- High proficiency with MS Suite of tools, especially Excel, Word, Outlook
- Familiarity with reading building drawings
- Prefer a minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in energy reporting and/or engineering in industry
- In preparation for PE exam.
