Job Description

Day-to-day activities include data management, analysis, and communicating results to our clients. Projects cover topics such as:

  • Impact evaluations for energy efficiency programs and behavioral interventions
  • Evaluations of smart technologies designed to reduce peak demand, such as smart thermostats and time-varying rates
  • Forecasting of distribution-level electric loads
  • Granular forecasts of energy efficiency, demand response, solar generation, electric vehicle adoptions, and battery storage
  • Quantifying locational values for resources to manage demand

With a large portfolio of current projects at Energy Company, candidates must be able to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Successful candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills and be comfortable explaining complex concepts to non-technical audiences. Candidates will also support business development with proposal writing and have exposure to clients on a regular basis. 

Required Skills

  • Understanding of mechanical or electrical systems and energy efficiency strategies for lighting, HVAC, and domestic hot water.
  • Experience with field data collection in residential or commercial settings.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy systems including solar photovoltaics and batteries. 
  • Exposure to state and federal energy codes and standards.
  • Ability to monitor and analyze energy consumption patterns to identify and validate energy savings via engineering calculations or simulation software.
  • Programming experience in one or more of the following languages is a plus: R, SAS, Python, Stata, Matlab.
  • Undergraduate and/or coursework in engineering or a related field. 

Beneficial Skills

  • Internship, research, or full-time experience in the energy industry, and familiarity with the electric power sector.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling software (EnergyPlus, eQUEST, etc.)

Physical Abilities

The ability to lift 30 Pounds, and work in tight low light areas.

Work Environment

Corporate office is based in Newark, and successful candidates will need to be able to travel through Hudson, Essex, and Bergen counties on a routine basis as an in the field worker.
