JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Certified Energy Auditor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating the energy usage and efficiency of buildings and systems, recommending improvements, and ensuring compliance with energy standards for residential customers within the assigned New Jersey counties. The Certified Energy Auditor will work closely with residential clients to assess their energy consumption, identify inefficiencies, and provide cost-effective solutions for energy conservation. This position requires travel within the PSE&G New Jersey service territory.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Conduct on-site energy audits of residential and multifamily units (up to 8 units), to evaluate energy consumption patterns and systems.
· Perform assessments of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, lighting, insulation, and other energy systems.
· Utilize specialized equipment (such as infrared thermography, blower doors, and energy monitoring tools) to identify energy inefficiencies and potential areas for improvement.
· Analyze utility bills and other data to develop an accurate energy profile of the building or facility.
· Prepare comprehensive energy audit reports outlining findings, including energy-saving opportunities and associated cost savings.
· Provide recommendations for energy-efficient upgrades, improvements, and retrofits.
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and national energy regulations and standards.
· Collaborate with clients to develop and implement energy conservation strategies that align with their sustainability goals.
· Stay current on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in energy auditing and energy efficiency.
· Ability to coach and train subcontractor network on utility program applications and systems
· Provide clients with actionable, clear, and concise energy-saving plans and solutions.
· Assist clients in obtaining energy efficiency certifications or rebates where applicable.
· Attend workshops, trade ally and outreach events as required by stakeholders
· 70% travel within the state of New Jersey for the PSE&G utility footprint with 30% hybrid for reporting purposes to attend virtual or in person meetings as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) certification or equivalent Industry recognized certifications (e.g., BPI -Building Science Principals, BAT -Building Analyst Technician, HVAC, envelope)
· 2- 3 years of proven experience in conducting energy audits for residential, commercial, or industrial buildings.
· Familiarity with energy-saving programs, rebates, and incentives
· Strong knowledge of energy technologies, including HVAC, lighting, insulation, and renewable energy options.
· Proficiency in energy auditing software and tools (e.g., energy modeling software, diagnostic tools).
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-experts (e.g., residential customers)
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Knowledge of energy-efficient building codes, standards, and regulations.
· Familiarity with energy-saving programs, rebates, and incentives.
· A strong understanding of sustainability practices and the environmental impact of energy use.
· Valid State of New Jersey Driver's license is required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
· Experience as a Certified Energy Auditor or Manager, LEED Accredited Professional, or other green building certification systems.
· Experience with utility residential home weatherization programs
· Familiarity with Snugg Pro (energy auditing platform)
· Crew lead or field supervisory experience a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 10-20 lbs.
· Comfort with working in various environmental conditions, including attics, basements, and rooftops.
· Willingness to travel to client sites as required within the PSE&G New Jersey assigned territory
