Job Description

MaGrann Associates is looking for an Energy Engineer in our New York City office, who will be responsible for completing performance audits for existing multifamily buildings, including field assessments, utility bill analysis, energy modeling, cost estimating, financial analysis, and report preparation. Energy Engineer will also perform visual verification of installed measures following audits and act as a technical consultant for clients as well as an interface to program agencies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate aspects of completion of audits on multifamily buildings and apartment complexes
  • Perform on-site assessments, including detailed data collection and performance testing
  • Obtain utility usage data from clients and analyze to isolate high usage components/units
  • Coordinate or complete energy modeling using appropriate program-approved software
  • Coordinate or complete estimation of savings and implementation cost for potential upgrade measures
  • Compose audit reports summarizing findings, financial analysis, and recommendation
  • Perform site visits to verify appropriate installation of recommended measures

Additional Job duties

  • Obtain post-implementation utility usage information and report actual savings
  • Monitor new products and energy industry related developments pertinent to audits
  • Monitor incentive program opportunities and assist in development of appropriate product offerings
  • Assist in the development of operation tools to improve quality and reduce time to complete audits
  • Train and direct administrative and field staff to allow them to cost-effectively perform appropriate audit tasks

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Environmental, Civil, or Energy),
  • Sustainability, Architecture, Building Science, or related field
  • 1-5 years of related experience conducting residential (multi-family) energy audits
  • BPI, CEM certifications preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of HVAC engineering theories and methodologies
  • Knowledge of building automation and controls
  • Knowledge of design documents
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Reliable travel abilities
  • Competencies: Works independently, takes initiative, exemplary written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail, excels at collaboration with multiple teams, admirable time

Miscellaneous Job Information

This is a full-time/non-exempt position based in our New York City office but with flexibility to accommodate the needs of the position and the applicant. Roughly 70% office work and 30% field work. Salary will be commensurate with experience and reviewed at least annually for performance and opportunity potential.
