JOB SUMMARY

The Field Safety Inspector is responsible for conducting on-site safety inspections and audits to ensure that all field technicians, subcontractors, and job sites comply with company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and applicable program or client safety regulations. This role involves proactively identifying hazards, evaluating work practices, and reinforcing a culture of safety throughout all operations. The Field Safety Inspector will provide field coaching, corrective action plans, and assist in the development and improvement of safety procedures and training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES

• Conduct regular field inspections and jobsite audits to assess technician compliance with safety standards, PPE use, and proper job setup.
• Identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and potential hazards; develop and communicate corrective action plans.
• Ensure all field operations follow OSHA, local, and company safety requirements.
• Verify that work sites are properly equipped with safety signage, equipment, and environmental controls.
• Perform incident investigations and near-miss analyses; document findings and assist with corrective measures.
• Provide on-site coaching and guidance to technicians to promote safe work habits and awareness.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and field training sessions as required.
• Maintain accurate safety inspection reports, documentation, and electronic records using company systems.
• Collaborate with management and internal stakeholders to review safety performance metrics and identify trends or recurring issues.
• Assist with the development and delivery of safety training materials and communications.
• Support the implementation of new safety initiatives and field safety campaigns.
• Conduct follow-up inspections to confirm completion of corrective actions.
• Represent the company in a professional manner when interfacing with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.

• Manage company-issued safety equipment and ensure proper care, maintenance, and inventory.
• Conducts quality assurance inspections and safety checks for in-house and subcontractor work.
• Verifies quality and compliance for Health & Safety and energy-saving measure installations.
• Identifies needs for additional in-field training and quality assurance support.
• Enhances overall work quality to reduce rework and improve customer and client satisfaction.
• Perform other safety-related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICTIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, or related field preferred.
• 3 – 5 years of field safety, construction safety, or related inspection experience required.
• OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety credential strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
• Strong knowledge of field operations and jobsite safety practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to provide constructive coaching and clear documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
• Valid driver’s license required; personal vehicle use may be necessary depending on location.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Willingness to travel regularly to field locations.
• Ability to work flexible hours when needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Field-based role requiring regular travel to job sites. 
• Physically active position which includes climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, talking, hearing and using repetitive motion. 
• Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery, such as a computer.
• Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone. 
• Visual capacity enabling frequent use of computer equipment.
• Heavy work: ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• Indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. This may or may not include extreme cold temperatures below 32 degrees and extreme heat above 100 degrees.

• Atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, gases or inadequate ventilation. 
• Sufficient noise where the employee may need to shout.
• Hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to chemicals, exposure to oscillating movements and working in high places. 
• Frequent close quarters such as crawl spaces, shafts, small rooms, narrow aisles or other areas that could cause claustrophobia.
