Title: Outreach and Partnership Manager - CMC

Primary Purpose
The Outreach and Partnerships Manager is a marketing professional specialized in implementing and developing commercial and strategic relationships with organizations in accordance with company's overarching objective, strategic goals and strategies. This individual is also responsible for conducting outreach to the business community in support of energy efficiency programs. The Outreach Manager for energy efficiency programs is responsible for promoting energy-saving initiatives, engaging with customers and community partners, managing outreach events, and coordinating with vendors. This role ensures that energy efficiency programs reach target audiences effectively, drives customer participation, and contributes to the program’s overall success. The Outreach Manager is also tasked with data collection, reporting, and ensuring compliance with Utility requirements.
Essential Functions
1. Develop outreach strategies to promote energy efficiency programs to residential, commercial, or multifamily customers and lead implementation.
2. Establish and maintain relationships with local governments, non-profits, trade organizations, utilities and community groups to expand the reach of energy efficiency programs.
3. Identify and engage potential partners to enhance outreach efforts and program participation.
4. Educate customers about the benefits of energy efficiency, available incentives, and best practices for reducing energy usage.
5. Conduct workshops, presentations, and training sessions for target audiences, such as building owners, property managers, and tenants.
6. Provide on-boarding, sales, program and technical training to all CMC New Jersey Outreach personnel.
7. Manage, coach and mentor Outreach Associates to ensure staff is performing effectively and at their highest potential to achieve program goals and grow the organization. This includes interviewing, planning, assigning work, completing performance evaluations, coaching and mentoring.
8. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers to deliver outreach services such as canvassing, educational sessions, or energy audits.
9. Manage the performance and compliance of third-party vendors to ensure alignment with program goals.
10. Plan and execute outreach events, including logistics, staffing, and promotional materials.
11. Track attendance and engagement at events to assess effectiveness.
12. Independently build and maintain relationships with key market actors in the building energy industry including architects, engineers, contractors, energy consultants, builders, public officials, public interest groups, building owners and utility customers.1
13. Maintain strong ongoing communications with participating Utilities, contractors and consultants in order to assess their needs and to receive feedback on their experience with the program.
14. Prepare status reports to accurately describe activities in the field and to monitor progress towards program goals on contractor/consultant participation and the completion of eligible projects.
15. Ensure that work is conducted in compliance with OSHA and company safety procedures.
16. Ensure that outreach activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines for energy efficiency programs.
17. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
1. Understanding of energy efficiency principles, building technologies, and sustainability practices is crucial. Knowledge of utility programs, energy audits, and incentive structures is a plus.
2. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, environmental science, public relations, communications, or a related field. A Master’s degree or certification in energy management or sustainability is a plus.
3. 3-5 years of experience in program outreach, community engagement, or related roles in the energy efficiency, sustainability, or environmental sectors. Experience managing teams, events, or external partners is preferred.
4. 3+ years of sales and business development experience.
5. Working knowledge of residential and commercial building and industrial energy systems.
6. Strong networking abilities with a track record of building partnerships and working with diverse groups, including governmental agencies, non-profits, and community organizations.
7. Knowledge of energy efficiency and US policies for energy efficiency preferred.
8. Strong skills to lead, direct, coach and mentor. Prior supervisory/management experience required.
9. Ability to collaborate with Senior Leadership on all topics related to program data, including the ability to obtain consensus, approval and manage projects through to implementation.
10. Strong organizational, project management, problem solving and prioritization skills necessary.
11. Resourcefulness to meet tight deadlines and flexibility with fluctuating priorities.
12. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in speech and writing, with customers, staff, managers, supervisors, contractors and clients.
13. Ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of integrity and ethics.
14. Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle required. Compliance with acceptable vehicle insurance levels as outlined in the company policy.
15. Willingness to travel to events, partner meetings, and community engagements, as necessary.
16. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
